What is Outsourcing?
With outsourcing, the outsourcing staff replaces or supports some or all of the personnel who make up the traditional company regulatory staff. The consultant spends most of their time doing what is needed for the client’s operation, not reviewing and commenting on client produced work and programs. The outsourcing company provides a number of key functions for the client:
- Keeping management apprised of various strategic issues which require their attention and decision making,
- Gathering information for completion or permits, recordkeeping, report development, etc…, and
- Teaching personnel only what they need to know to effectively implement those requirements that are best handled at the facility level, e.g., daily recordkeeping and inspection logs.
OUTSOURCING of Environmental, Health and Safety (“EH&S”) concerns can ensure that compliance matters are handled with the utmost professionalism – by persons who have focused their careers in the field. The outsource company can be more effective in managing the nuances of complex regulatory issues by matching the expertise required for the overall compliance goal to the skills/capabilities actually needed for the particular task.
Outsourcing ensures that internal management and operations staff focus their efforts towards what the company does best — managing their core business.
